Jeff Shelton, Architect
These are images from a custom designed book about the Spanish-Colonial-style building El Andaluz on Chapala Street in Santa Barbara, California, completed in 2010. It was designed by Santa Barbara architect Jeff Shelton, whose work conjures up the spirit of the magical realism reknowned in Latin American literature.
Photographs are by the internationally recognized photographer Macduff Everton, who is reknowned for his classic work on Mayan architecture and culture.
El Andaluz was digitally printed with pigment inks on archival rag paper at Lumino Editions. The book is handbound in the "Laguna" method, with Spanish hand-marbled paper over boards and a red leather spine. Title stamped in gold on spine. A letterpress printed cover label in two colors is mounted in an inset on front cover. Page size 9 x 12.5"
